5 Reasons To Try Richmond Hill Muay Thai

Many of us look toward the coming year with a “new you, new view” attitude. Whether it's regarding our professional or personal lives, there's something about creating and achieving goals that bring about a sense of optimism. It human nature to continually strive to become the best versions of ourselves.

Being healthy is its own biggest reward, do you not agree? The path we decide to take in order to gain (or lose for that matter) varies from person to person and from workout to workout.

At Richmond Hill Muay Thai we specialize specifically in the Martial Art of Muay Thai.

While many fitness routines focus on the outward physicality, Muay Thai focuses on both the inward and outward conditioning of the mind, body and soul. Defined by specific movements (kicks, punches, knees, elbows, clinches etc.), Muay Thai combines a number of physical and mental stimuli that completes all aspects of health and wellness. Check out some reasons why you should consider Muay Thai as a viable workout option.

Learn About Martial Arts Culture

A Dojo (Practice Hall/Gym) is a miniature cosmos where we make contact with ourselves-our fears, anxieties, reactions, and habits. It is an arena of confined conflict where we confront an opponent who is not an opponent but rather a partner engaged in helping us understand ourselves more fully... Jpe Hyams

There’s something about the Martial Arts culture that we gravitate to – Think about those Bruce Lee moments in our childhood as we chopped and kicked into the air. From the “Kill Bill’s” to the “Karate Kid’s” there is something heroic about the Martial Artist. Their discipline, their dedication and not to mention, their kick ass technique is something to be admired. If your goal is to simply lose weight, then there are plenty of gyms, cross-fit clubs, dance classes, and general fitness classes to reach your goals. However, if you are looking for something more holistic, consider Muay Thai.

Strong Body, Strong Mind

I would be lying if I said learning the art of Muay Thai would be easy and you would come to class unscathed. Muay Thai’s history is rooted in its ability to turn average people into strong, disciplined and courageous warriors. The process of transformation in Martial Arts, specifically Muay Thai, starts from the outside in, not the other way around. Where the body leads, the mind will follow allowing for the cultivation of a strong disciplined mind that endures.

Look Good, Feel Better

Martial Arts including Muay Thai is a total body workout. PERIOD. Regardless if you are looking to compete, learn to defend yourself or achieve that “Summer Body”, your wish is our desire. Muay Thai applies aspects of cardio, flexibility, coordination, muscle conditioning, endurance in each and every workout.

Training Breeds an Atmosphere of Improvement

Because Martial Arts and Muay Thai are task-oriented by nature, it comes as no surprise that the skills you learn from our sessions can resonate with other aspects of your life.  The ability to conquer a challenge, learning to proactively resolve conflict, effectively manage physical and mental stress can all be developed one movement ata time. Add learning to work within a team environment and a place to have plain old’ fun, the opportunities are endless.

Find Your Tribe

While regular fitness classes focus on individual success, Muay Thai builds a community. Many of the activities and training demonstrations are done in partners or within groups. You will be among your peers who are all working towards a shared purpose. Some of the exercises can be tough and pretty demanding, however, when you have a partner, a team of enthusiasts and dedicated instruction, who are with you every step of the way, pushing you to conquer each obstacle, it brings you that much closer to achieving the task at hand.

We’re building a dedicated Muay Thai Martial Arts program within the Richmond Hill community and we want YOU to join our team! Should you have any questions or would like to attend a class; we operate every Monday and Wednesday from 7PM till 8:30pm at the Bayview Community Centre. Taught by Kru Ryan.

Come on, now is the time to take your goals to the next level.

Peace!

Kru Ryan
